Andrzej Bargiel, an outstanding ski-mountaineer has finished his journey KARAKORAM EXPEDITION. Its goal was to climb to the tops and ski down the slopes of two 6-thousand-metre mountains – the unspoilt Yawash Sar II (6,178 metres above the see level) in the Valley of Ghidims-Dur and Laila Peak (6,096 metres above the see level) in the Hushe Valley. The journey was a double success!
On 30 April Andrzej Bargiel became the first person in history to have climbed Yawash Sar II and skied down off its peak. On 10 May he repeated this feat at the 6,096-metre-high mountain of Laila Peak, located in the Hushe Valley. The KARAKORAM SKI EXPEDITION project began on 19 April 2021 and finished on 19 May 2021 with the return of the mountain-skier’s entire team to the country.
